About our Workshop Host Huma Shireen

Huma's goal is to help you develop compassionate awareness of your mind and body using presence, attunement, and resonance in order to harness the potential for neuroplasticity. She hopes to be part of your journey in undoing the faulty patterns, symptoms, and suffering in your life as you move towards greater ease, well-being, and mental health.

"I had been curious about therapy, but it was hard to take the first step. The Pop Up helped me get started, and solidified my belief that mental health is fundamental to my well being: it’s something that I should monitor and work on, and it’s okay to get help. The space made me feel very welcome and eased the anxiety I felt for trying therapy for the first time."

Sina Vaziri

senior business analyst, pivotal

"As a therapist, I'm very happy to have participated in the Mental Health Pop Up and have already gotten a new client from the event who is benefiting greatly from our work already. I would highly recommend all therapists participate in this important initiative."

Why I'm hosting this event:

It's so easy to think it's just you, that everyone but you has it together. You just need to step it up and tough it out, right? In today's fast paced, high stakes, high pressure world, trust me... it's not 'just you'.

After personally experiencing how therapy can help through the difficult times - for example with an overwhelmingly stressful job, the loss of a loved one, or a major life change -  and with fostering a healthy way of thinking about life and one's self, I made a decision not to keep that experience a secret. We talk so openly about keeping our bodies healthy, let's normalize keeping our minds healthy too.

I'm proud to partner with Orchid to host the Toronto Mental Health Pop-up to do what I can toward spreading the word that it's not just you, and taking care of your mental health is so worth it!

COME EASE YOUR MIND & FEEL BETTER

After personally struggling to find a therapist, and craving a dedicated space to ease my mind that wasn’t a cafe or bedroom, I decided to host this mental health pop up. Unlike physical health, mental health is largely undetectable and i want to make it easier for everyone facing daily challenges (who isn’t?) to access care in a modern, friendly, approachable environment. I hope you’ll join us on April 12th and let’s ease our minds together.
